Shipping costs in B2B procurement: an underestimated problem

How the new shipping feature works

Manage shipping profiles centrally

You can now create individual shipping cost profiles in the PunchCommerce management area. Each profile consists of three simple parameters:

  • Name - A unique name (e.g. "Standard shipping" or "Express delivery")
  • Price - The shipping costs in euros (net)
  • Threshold value (optional)** - A minimum order value above which shipping is free of charge

Customised allocation

Not every customer has the same shipping conditions. This is why you can assign a suitable shipping cost profile to each PunchOut customer in the Customer settings. This allows you to map different shipping agreements clearly and transparently - without additional effort.

Automatic calculation in the shopping basket

The centrepiece of the feature: Shipping costs are calculated fully automatically and added to the shopping basket As soon as a shopper adds a product to the shopping basket or changes the quantity, PunchCommerce checks in real time:

  1. Does the customer have a shipping cost profile? - If no, no shipping costs are calculated. 2 Is the net value of the goods below the threshold value - If yes, the shipping costs are added as a separate item in the shopping basket.
  2. if the value of the goods exceeds the threshold value - the shipping costs are automatically removed again - free shipping becomes directly visible.

Seamless protocol support

The feature supports both cXML and OCI - the two most common PunchOut protocols. Shipping costs are correctly transmitted to the buyer's procurement system as dedicated items. In cXML, for example, they are mapped as separate shipping elements within the OrderMessage so that the receiving system can process them correctly.
